The term Goldfields conjures up images of dry dusty mine sites, barren wastelands of old workings which have displaced native flora and fauna, ghost towns and a rough and ready life style. Woodlands on the other hand conjures up an image of trees, undergrowth and a proliferation of bird, animal and diverse plant life. Which one best describes Kalgoorlie Boulder. Well believe it or not Woodlands! Anyone who flies into the city or enters the area by road cannot help but notice that the landscape is woodland for as far as the eye can see and much further. The Great Western Woodland supports one of the more diverse ranges of flora and fauna in Australia but we do not use this unique asset in any of our marketing! We have the historically interesting parts such as ghost towns and abandoned workings but they are all in amongst the trees, and in season hectares and hectares of the most brilliant carpets of everlasting you will see anywhere, not in hot dusty red wasteland!

We all enjoy this bush, we go camping, trail bike riding, fossicking, metal detecting, catching marron in the dams, feral animal shooting or just bush walking and it’s our best kept secret!! We need to share what we have with the rest of Australia and reposition Kalgoorlie Boulder as a great place to live.

You can find out more about the what the area has to offer on the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder website.

Also look at the Kalgoorlie Boulder Chamber of Commerce website for great information.
